It is our pleasure to invite you to XIV Virtual Balkan Conference on Operational Research (Virtual BALCOR 2020), which will be held in Thessaloniki, Greece (University of Macedonia), during 30 September – 3 October, 2020.
The XIV Balkan Conference on Operational Research (Virtual BALCOR 2020) will be co-organized by the Department of Applied Informatics at University of Macedonia (Information Systems and e-Business Laboratory) and the Hellenic Operational Research Society (HELORS).
Due to the situation with Covid-19 and with everyone's health and safety in mind, the BALCOR 2020 organizing committee has decided to convert Hybrid BALCOR 2020 to Virtual BALCOR 2020. Thus, participants will join the conference only through electronic participation (via Zoom).
We would like to remind you that camera-ready papers should be submitted via Easy Chair by August 30, 2020:

You can update your file and send your camera-ready paper via the "Update file" link on the menu. Please make sure that you strictly comply with the format specifications according to the conference template for short papers that can be found here. Then, you should upload your short paper in Word/doc format. Please keep note that short papers are limited to 5 pages, including abstract, body of paper, figures/tables, references, and appendices. All accepted short papers will be published in the electronic Book of Conference Proceedings (with ISBN).
Let us remind you that every paper should be covered by at least one registration at the regular rate by September 13, 2020 (late registration). Each author’s full registration can cover at most two papers that he/she authored or coauthored. Papers without a full registration will be withdrawn from the program and the proceedings.
All accepted papers will be presented using a pre-recorded 12-15-minute video via Zoom with an additional 5 minutes for questions (live with Zoom). Each video should use a set of slides, and should be timed carefully to not exceed the time allocation. Therefore, we kindly ask all participants to submit a video with their presentation (MP4) by September 13, 2020. Participants can send shared links to their video presentation via WeTransfer, Drive or Dropbox to balcor2020@uom.edu.gr. By submitting the video, the delegates will accept the publication and dissemination of their video presentations through the digital channels of the conference, which will be available to the public.
After completing your registration, we will send you the conference program as well as instructions for presenting your work and attending the conference.

The purpose of the Conference is to disseminate recent scientific advances in the field of Operational Research and Management Science in Balkan countries. The main benefits for the OR researchers are the successful exchange of ideas and information of interest to Operational Research and the promotion of international co-operation among participants by presenting both theoretical and applied results.
We invite those who are interested in organizing Workshops or Special Sessions to submit a relevant proposal (Workshop/Session title, organizers, description). After the acceptance of their abstract, authors are given the option to submit Short Papers for publication in the electronic conference proceedings with ISBN. The length of the papers should not exceed 5 pages and they should be prepared in MS Word, in accordance with the format shown in the template file:

All accepted Short Papers that will be published in the Book of Proceedings will be reviewed by Members of the Scientific Committee.
The abstracts approved for presentation will be included in the Book of Abstracts that will be distributed at the beginning of the Conference.
All accepted Short Papers will be published in the electronic Book of Conference Proceedings with an ISBN.

All papers (in extended form - after revision), will be refereed according to the standards of the respective journal.
All conference participants are invited to submit their research work to the forthcoming book of Springer Proceedings in series: Springer Proceedings in Business and Economics, dedicated to Virtual BALCOR 2020 (Operational Research in the Era of Analytics and Business Transformation).
Registration fees should be paid for each paper presented. The fees are as follows:

Regular and Students with presentation: The registration fee includes access to all scientific sessions, conference material (book of abstracts, conference proceedings, programme, etc).
Author registration: All attendees, including presenters, must pay for the correct registration category. Each paper needs to be covered by at least one registration at the regular rate by September 13, 2020. Each author’s full registration can cover at most two papers that he/she authored or coauthored.
Papers cannot be covered with only a student registration. Papers without a full registration will be withdrawn from the program and the proceedings.
